Here's a thought: instead of protecting jobs, why not protect workers?

India's labor laws, particularly the Industrial Disputes Act (IDA), are giving businesses a major headache. Chapter 5 basically handcuffs companies with 100-300+ workers (depending on the state), making layoffs a bureaucratic nightmare. This also means other labor laws get super strict. Result? Tons of rules and slow legal processes are killing productivity. If businesses can't easily adjust their workforce, things grind to a halt. And guess what? Indian labor productivity is lagging behind other countries. Ouch!

But what if we flipped the script? Instead of protecting jobs, why not protect workers with a killer unemployment insurance program? Ditch Chapter 5, give workers a safety net, and let businesses manage their teams more effectively.
